Overview

What the Skydroid T12 does on an agriculture drone

One radio in your hands. Three links to the drone.

The Skydroid T12 is a 12-channel, 2.4 GHz ground unit that carries stick commands, flight-controller telemetry and camera video over a single integrated link. On the aircraft, the matching R12 receiver handles all three, instead of a separate RC receiver, telemetry radio and video transmitter.

Clip an Android phone or tablet into the folding bracket and it becomes your ground station: live video from the supplied camera, telemetry and waypoint missions in Skydroid Tower, and every radio setting a few taps away in the Device Helper app.

Key features

Key features of the T12 transmitter

01

Control, telemetry and video on one link

An integrated digital radio carries your stick inputs, flight data returned from the flight controller and the camera feed together. Fewer radios on the airframe means less wiring, less weight and fewer things to troubleshoot at the edge of a field.

  • 2.4 GHz
  • 100 mW output
  • FHSS

02

Dual antennas, redundant radio modules

Two radio modules and two 2.4 GHz antennas work together, with frequency hopping across 2.400–2.4833 GHz. The redundancy is there to keep the signal steady as the drone turns, climbs and works its way down the field. The R12 receiver carries its own pair of antennas on the aircraft side.

  • Dual-module redundancy
  • 2 × 3 dB antennas

03

Sealed where the field gets in

Both main sticks are sealed against water and dust, silicone caps cover the ports, and the industrial case has been drop-tested by the manufacturer. That matters when you’re refilling tanks, standing in spray drift or setting the radio down on dry soil.

It’s built to shrug off splashes and dust, not to fly in rain. Skydroid’s manual rules out flying in rain or strong wind.

Skydroid T12 aluminium folding bracket rotating 360 degrees with holder arms
04

A folding bracket for phone or tablet

The aluminium-alloy Z bracket folds into the body, rotates a full 360°, and both holder arms adjust through 180°, so the screen sits exactly where you want it. The T12 can also top up your phone from its own battery through the 5 V output.

  • 360° rotation
  • 180° holder adjustment
  • Phone charging

A full working day on one charge

A 4000 mAh built-in lithium-ion battery and a low-power 100 mW radio give a rated endurance of about 25 hours. Charging is over micro-USB from any standard 5 V / 1.5 A adapter.

Set up from your phone, repeat across a fleet

Device Helper connects over Bluetooth or USB OTG to set channel mapping, reversing, endpoints, failsafe values, SBUS/PPM output and telemetry baud rate. Save a configuration once, then load it onto the next controller: useful when you build drones in batches.

  • 4 stick modes
  • Saved presets
  • App firmware updates
Transmission range

Skydroid T12 range: what to expect in the field

20kmVideo transmission
30kmData link

These are Skydroid’s ratings, measured with no obstruction and no interference. The earlier T12 manual (V2.0, 2019) lists 10 km, so treat the higher figures as a best case for current hardware.

Real range depends on line of sight, terrain, trees, other 2.4 GHz traffic and, above all, how the antennas are mounted. Always fly within the limits of local drone regulations.

Mount the R12 antennas the way the manual shows

  • Vertical and pointing up, away from the centre plate with nothing shielding them
  • Fixed under the arms, as the manual’s alternative position
  • On the handset: unfolded and vertical, not crossed, not lying flat
  • Not close to carbon fibre or metal
  • Not crossed, and not in the middle of the tank

FAQ

Skydroid T12 questions, answered

Can’t find your answer? Ask our support team.

What is the Skydroid T12?

The Skydroid T12 is a 12-channel, 2.4 GHz remote controller for drones that combines radio control, telemetry and video transmission in one link. This combo includes the T12 transmitter, the R12 receiver for the drone and a 3-in-1 digital camera.

What is the Skydroid T12 used for?

Mainly for flying plant-protection (agriculture spraying) drones: controlling the aircraft, seeing flight data and watching live video from one handset. Skydroid also lists helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, quadcopters, RC cars and boats as applications.

Is the Skydroid T12 suitable for agriculture spraying drones?

Yes, that’s what it was designed for. The user manual even shows how to mount the R12 antennas on a spraying drone: vertical, away from the centre plate, clear of carbon fibre and metal, and never crossed or placed in the middle of the tank.

What is the transmission range of the Skydroid T12?

Skydroid rates the T12 at up to 20 km for video and 30 km for data with no obstruction and no interference. The older V2.0 manual (2019) lists 10 km. Real-world range depends on line of sight, terrain, interference and antenna placement.

Which flight controllers work with the T12?

The T12 works with MAVLink flight controllers such as APM, PX4 and Pixhawk. The R12 receiver outputs SBUS, PPM, PWM, I²C and serial, so you can match your flight controller’s input. Tell us your flight controller and we’ll confirm the wiring.

Does the T12 work with an iPhone or iPad?

No. Skydroid’s apps (Device Helper, Skydroid FPV and Skydroid Tower) are Android-only, so you’ll need an Android phone or tablet.

What’s included in the Skydroid T12 combo?

One T12 transmitter, one R12 receiver with antennas, one 3-in-1 digital camera, a connecting cable set and a carrying case. A phone or tablet and the flight controller are not included.

How long does the battery last, and how do I charge it?

The built-in 4000 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated for about 25 hours. Charge it over micro-USB with a standard 5 V / 1.5 A adapter, and avoid charging above 60 °C.

Is the Skydroid T12 waterproof?

The main joysticks are sealed against water and dust, and silicone caps protect the ports, so splashes and dust in the field aren’t a problem. No IP rating is published, though, and Skydroid’s manual says not to fly in rain or strong wind.

Can I buy the T12 without the camera?

Yes. If you already have a camera or only need a replacement handset, see the Skydroid T12 transmitter without camera.

What warranty does the T12 come with?

A three-month factory warranty covering manufacturing faults, buttons not working out of the box, and camera or receiver faults.
